Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.
My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

Behold, famine and plague, tribulation and anguish, are sent as scourges for amendment.
For sometime the flame was mitigated, that it might not burn up the beasts that were sent against the ungodly; but themselves might see and perceive that they were persecuted with the judgment of God.
What good doeth the offering unto an idol? for neither can it eat nor smell: so is he that is persecuted of the Lord.
And I thought with myself, Into what tribulation am I come, and how great a flood of misery is it, wherein now I am! for I was bountiful and beloved in my power.
